What We Value
Here at PBi, we see the impact that chronic disease has had on our families, friends and our greater community. Over the past 10 years, so much has changed in how the world views chronic disease. Hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure, were not so commonplace in our discussions with one another. Today, it is very commonplace, too commonplace among the exasperated voices to be heard, about a friend or loved one with a poor health outcome.
If you’re not careful, this can be very sad; and we’ve found people in complete denial, because they just don’t want to or can’t handle the debilitating effect on their lives and quality of life. With this so much in mind, in 2006, our team decided it was time to take back the sense of control for our friends’ lives and deliver a proven process that will actually empower the individual to ‘expect and get’ an improved quality of life.

What We Do
It’s all about health outcomes as the target. It’s not the cost, it’s not the pain, it’s not the denial; it’s all about getting better health outcomes for our Members. The healthcare industry is so focused on acute care that we’ve lost sight of the larger picture, the most important view, the Member’s quality of life. Only after improving their health outcomes, little by little, will you see sustained improvements in their quality of life.
Even though we all know that healthier Members cost less than un-healthy Members, it’s a lost working notion, because the industry has had no real answer to chronic disease, we simply let Members "slip into it" and then cover it over as "lost". Totally unacceptable, but when you quiz chronic disease Members about what their Physician tells them to do about it, the response is usually "Lose weight, exercise more and take this pill and you’ll be okay"; yet their quality of life continues to slide down little by little, until the Member just assumes that this is old age and how things are; poor & poorer. At PBi, WE DON’T AGREE! Fifty years ago, it was not this way. So what happened?
Studies after study have all confirmed that Physical Activity will improve every chronic disease state. If Physical Activity and a proper Member engagement model (course of care plan) were applied using evidentiary data tools, we could measure the performance of the Member’s approach to better health outcomes. The primary focus therefore becomes PREVENTION as a task, to avoid chronic diseases and ‘Prevention as a TREATMENT’ for those with chronic diseases. Sixty-five years ago, our country was far more mobile, active, where hard work and a balanced diet was a part of everyday life. We’ve lost entire generations to fast foods and a sedentary life. At PBi we intend to use every tool available (smartphone apps, social media, activity trackers, web portals, self-reporting devices, expert systems, etc.) to help our Members learn and achieve their improved quality of life, for the sustained impact that is the key to driving down the cost of healthcare.
Our Commitment
Our team of professionals is COMMITTED to every Member’s better health outcome, day by day, episode after episode; where the Member (with the insight of PBi) will have their positive incremental impacts to a better outcome. Based on an award winning design, PBi is positioned to use Prevention as the common force and focus to empowering our Members to an improved Quality of Life, while reducing the total cost of care. We collaborate our data and findings for Members with the entire Caregiver community who have been authorized by the Member, significantly increasing the Member’s speed to improved & lasting health outcomes.
